Patty and Titus – one of our case mangers & registered pet therapy dog – taking a mental health break at work

Our pet therapy dog, Titus has had a fun month during December. Titus went with Patty to visit our friends at the Waltham Senior Center. They were able to mingle and have some fun at the annual Christmas party.

The benefits for pet therapy are aplenty.

PAWSforPeople state that spending time with a pet therapy animal can “lower blood pressure, improve cardiovascular health, releases endorphins (oxytocin) that have a calming effect, diminishes overall physical pain, the act of petting produces an automatic relaxation response, helps to reduce the amount of medication some people may need”

For Mental Health
• lifts spirits and lessens depression
• decreases feelings of isolation and alienation
• encourages communication
• provides comfort
• increases socialization and sense of community
• reduces boredom
• decreases anxiety
• helps children overcome speech and emotional disorders
• creates motivation for the client to recover faster
• reduces loneliness

HAPPY “2017” from all of us to all of you.
